Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT)

For all paddlers, irrespective of craft you will learn simple and safe rescue techniques and their application. Operating in a sheltered water environment you will be able to deal with common emergencies. 
The award has 2 purposes;
1 – To provide the paddler with the necessary skills that will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
2 – To provide the paddler the appropriate skills which can be used to help themselves or others in difficulty.

WHO IS THE FSRT COURSE FOR?
Due to the paddling environment and the boat control required to carry out the techniques and skills you will need to hold a BCU 2 star award or be of that ability. This is also a requirement for candidates wanting to become a UKCC Level 1 coach.

WHAT WE PROVIDE: Boats, Paddles and all safety equipment

White Water Safety and Rescue Training (WWS&R)

This is a course for any paddler operating in moderate to advanced water conditions. The objective is to gain underpinning knowledge of techniques and skills and be able to apply them appropriately. 
The course are:
•    To improve awareness of safety skills in the river environment.
•    To teach personal survival skills.
•    To teach throw line rescue techniques.
•    To understand the need for structure in an emergency situation
•    To outline basic rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others.

WHO IS THE WWS & R COURSE FOR?
You should be confident in your boat handling skills in up to grade 2 water. This course is a requirement for the BCU 4 star leaders award.
