Jebel Toubkal, Morocco

THE MOUNTAIN
Trek to the summit of the highest peak in Northern Africa at 4167m. The summit provides breathtaking 360 degree views of the High Atlas and the Sahara desert. During the winter months, Mt Toubkal and the surrounding peaks of the High Atlas turn into a winter walkers' paradise. It is a great time to visit: the mountains are virtually deserted apart from the local Berbers and a handful of enthusiasts.

THE COUNTRY

Explore Africa’s most fascinating and vibrant cities, Marrakech. Meet and dine with the Berber mountain people and experience the chaos and beauty of the markets and souks. Morocco is truly a country of contrasts.
THE CHALLENGE
Starting from Imlil at 1750m you will pass remote villages, the Atlas flood plaines, rocky cliffs and eventually traverse the jagged rocks and snow to the very top of the Atlas mountains, Jebel Toubkal. Crampons and ice axes may be required on some of the days, but this trip is designed to be non-technical and achievable by those who are enthusiastic and fit, even if they are new to winter walking.
